The only con to replacing the stock tires: you get worse gas mileage.

But even that one con isn't all that much. I've seen a -1 or -2 mpg hit due to changing to decent all seasons (Goodyear Eagle Sport) and about the same or a little more on summers (Continental DW). Is it worth it to me to a) stop sooner, b) corner harder, c) have a quieter ride, d) have a more compliant ride? Yes.
