Well, it might be because quality dampers that try to maximize travel are usually
$$$$.
The higher level dampers seem to have more travel and obviously much better damping. And since most people are concerned with slamming the car (don't care about stroke) or optimizing the car for track/autocross (relatively smooth), it might not be as important.
