I've spent a ton of time on the S30 Z forums and this kind of swap is regular place in a similarly weighted Z car. (just sold my Z for money for the FR-S lol). For the Z's, swapping to a V8 always puts weight more towards the center making the weight distribution better.
I imagine that swapping an aluminum V8 would net better weight distribution than any inline 6 in the FR-S/BR-Z. weight distribution would probably come in real close to stock with the aluminium V8 while adding a straight 6 of any kind will throw weight way out towards the front. My guess is the split would come to 54.5F/45.5R ish.

Oh and also for a jack of all trades like you said you want a V8 would probably be better anyway. they typically have better torque curves for multipurpose setups. 500-600hp 2jz might have a bit more turbo lag than you would want for something like autox unless you go with a sequential setup which i dont know if you could fit that in the twins engine bay. would be sweet though haha

Dont get me wrong though. I dig the idea of a 2jz swap . they make a ton of power and i dig straight 6's thanks to my love for S30 Z's. Good luck with the swap.
