the difference is that the corolla's design was built from the ground up to work with led's.

currently, all the led bulb conversions use a COB- based led which has a very large die area--they emit light smoothly across a space about as wide as a dime. hid and halogen both emit light from a very small fraction of that area, so the engineers have designed the reflectors around the light being emitted from a very tiny centerpoint.. because of this, led bulbs just can't be bright enough because they can't physically fit all the light exactly where it needs to be to compete with hid or halogen lights..
