have you guys been able to activate and deactivate the alarm system?

i've tried several times and followed the instructions, but i can't get it activate or deactivate.

BRZ Alarm: Activate/De-activate

1) Enter car, sitting in driver's seat.


2) Press START/STOP button 2x, turning vehicle electronics ON.


3) Press AND HOLD the electronic power door lock switch to UNLOCK position, and IMMEDIATELY — without delay — open the door with the door latch lever. (Note: If one delays a mere few seconds between pressing UNLOCK and opening the door, the alarm setting procedure will fail. One must open the door immediately. So, press UNLOCK and release the door latch in quick succession.)

Continue to depress the UNLOCK switch for about 10 seconds until the car beeps and "AL ON, or AL OFF" is displayed in the tachometer information box.


4) Repeat above to cycle alarm ON/OFF.


5) The alarm, if activated, will be set whenever one locks the car normally. Immediately upon locking the car, the red alarm lock symbol will light in the tachometer and remain steadily lit for 30 seconds before beginning to flash every two seconds.

If the alarm did not activate, then the red alarm light will immediately begin flashing without the 30 seconds steady ON mode after locking the car.


6) When the alarm is ON, if a person is left in the car with the doors locked, and without an access key in the car, and the person in the car then unlocks the door to exit the vehicle, the alarm will sound.


Once the doors are locked and the alarm is armed, only the access key can open the doors without setting off the alarm.

Stop the alarm sounding by pressing the unlock button on the access key fob.
