This is NOT normal.

I use Carbotech XP10's in the rear and even more aggressive XP12's in the front. They squeal like a freight train when stopping and shed dust like a coal factory. I use them on my supercharged ZO6 Which I run in Autocross, HPDE's, 1/4, and 1/2 mile events.

The difference is, they do not squeal AT ALL when I'm not touching the brake pedal. Why should they? Any time the pedal is pressed, they squeal.

Here is a video using those pads. There is no squealing whatsoever until the brakes are used a bit at the very end when they are slightly warm.
