I'd probably try out the new 2015 WRX as it does offer more power that my old RS doesn't have and has that 6-speed which is helpful as I got more highway driving to do. That's the only new car I think is a strong enough candidate for myself. Practical enough, small enough, powerful enough, fun, reliable and hopefully acceptable enough fuel economy(the Forester XT is apparently more fuel efficient than my RS).

I've driven the Mustang V6 and GT many times at work, and they're awesome...but after driving the GT, the V6 is out of the question you simply can't ignore how much lesser the V6 feels after that. The GT...I love the power but...I could never use it without risking my license. The rest of the car is better than a standard car but the interior is not great and that live axle is horrid on rough Toronto roads. I've also got to drive around a Challenger for a short period of time and for me its too big, its an ocean liner among sports cars, it feels too bloody heavy even with the V8 and its a Chrysler...the one automaker where I've seen their poor reliability on a frequent basis. The 370Z is too expensive($40K here) and the Genesis coupe never really did it for me. The MX-5 seems like a good alternative but its a roadster, I actually do need the trunk and rear seats(I'm short enough to make them work) and the MX-5 here is also too expensive($29K minimum same price as Monogram FRS and BRZ Sport tech).

BMW 3-series...if I get a BMW I want a inline-6 not the turbo 4. Yes I know the turbo 4 is faster but its definitely not as creamy smooth which is how I think a luxury car should feel. The only inline-6 remaining is the 335i and its very expensive. That said they're fun to drive but I don't find the rest of the car as user friendly. Audi A4...driven it, and its boring which is a shame because I wanted to like it. Mercedes C300...no more manual, drives good but I don't want an auto again. That said among these cars I wouldn't be looking forward to the ownership costs and I hate the fact that you're charged extra for deviating from black or white.

The FRS/BRZ was one the only car to entice me to the prospect of a new car. A sporty RWD car, has sufficient power, feels as awesome to drive as my gone Cressida, comes from two companies I hugely respect, good price and amazingly cheaper to fuel up than my previous two cars.
