That makes sense. Sounds like you were just in a tough situation. As a quick tip -- you can use craigslist or the classifieds on NASIOC to find used 5x100 wheels/tires for cheap. Getting snow tires would be the best, but even if you can only find all-seasons, that would be better than what you're using now. If you find a set of used tires/wheels, but need some help financially, send me a PM.
In the meantime, be careful out there. Try not to drive in the snow if possible.
