First off, I think it's really cool that you drove out so your wife wouldn't have to be alone. Good man.

So don't take this the wrong way when I say, it's stupid to drive on summer tires in the snow. It's not just you, I've seen it a number of times on these forums, but it's an easy way to hurt yourself or someone else. Not to mention that good samaritan probably wouldn't have had to get sandblasted by dirty snow trying to help you get free.
