Well I brought my 2013 BRZ to the local dealership for this issue yesterday. I showed the service writer the leak and explained to him all the reading up I've done on this issue and how dealerships have errantly just sealed the plate only to have it start leaking again. So he calls me up today and says it's the valve cover gasket and it's on backorder until Friday the 14th. The plate will need to be resealed anyways to replace the gasket so we'll see if this fixes the issue. I'm cautiously optomistic.
At least they put me up in a 2014 Legacy. This is the 3rd time I've had it in for warranty service in the last year and each time they put me up in a loaner of my choice so that's cool! The first time was a 2013 XV Crosstrek and second was a 2013 Forester. All 3 with C(rap)VTs though

. I was hoping for a 3.6R Legacy or Outback but no dice.
UPDATE - 2/25/14
After dropping the BRZ off again last night for the oil leak issue, I just got a call from the service writer and they were unable to find the leak, which is bogus. When he came out to check the VIN and mileage I pulled a clean napkin out of my glove box and wiped the bottom of the plate to show him exactly where the leak was. He said they put dye in the oil and will have me drive it for a week then bring it back to check it out.
I also had them check out a noise the throwout bearing makes when idling in the morning after the idle drops down to about 900 rpm. The tech thought it sounded odd so they ordered a new t/o bearing to have as a replacement if needed and will check it out when I bring it back next week. I'm not sure if that means they are going to pull the transmission or not...
