I first want to say that I have nothing against Monogram, and congrats on finally getting your GT86. My argument however is with the statement that apologies are owed.
The facts are yes he ended up finally getting his vehicle, I am happy he got what he wanted and has been waiting for, and it ends up he wasn't trolling (at least intentionally). But truth of the matter, his facts were wrong, and the reason he got such a shelling on the forum is because his statements went against information given by Moto-P, and others have expressed they felt he was arrogant in his responses. That may be of no fault to him, as the information passed on to him via his contact at Toyota Corporate may have been misleading.
The Story begins in October:
Moto-P comes on and gives us information about a Monogram to be available early 2014. Moto-P has been great for this community, and his information has been solid since the very beginning. And as it turns out, his information was solid and precise once again.
In November, he joins the forum:
He posted that he had ordered one.
"I can confirm the Monogram will be available by late December, early January. My white, 6spd manual, is scheduled for delivery by late December."
"I have it from a very reliable source that my vehicle will be in port by the middle of December. It is being built as we speak."
"I have a 2014 Monogram Edition, White, 6spd manual, on order with an ETA of late December. TRD exhaust will be installed at the port."
Many people ask him how he has ordered one, no valid information is given as a reply. People are starting to get annoyed.
In December:
"I just got off the phone with my Toyota contact who is currently traveling in Japan, and he stated that the Monogram Editions are on the streets in Japan (He laid eyes on a production unit). FYI" - His source at Toyota seems to not know difference between a GT86 and an FR-S, his source's credibility is lost in the eyes of the forum members.
On December 29, he then adds a
Scion Series Thread which turns out to be just a 10 Series. The question arises on whether he has any knowledge of Scion release series.
He has since gone and deleted all his posts prior to December 29th in any Monogram thread. Therefore I cannot quote the majority of what was said, but since people have quoted him, it still shows the dates he posted, and what he stated. Some of which is put above.
Since he has deleted his previous posts, I cannot see if he at all apologized to the forum for wrong information, so why should the rest of us apologize to him?
Conclusion:
In the end, Monogram seems like his intentions were for the better. None of this may be his fault, and his contact is likely at fault. If Mark Zuckerburg tells you Google is going to buy Facebook in 2015. And I come and tell you it is actually going to happen in 2014, tell you all about my reliable sources, give no credible proof, tell you I've already bought the newly opted Google/Facebook shares. Then come 2015, Google buys Facebook... No, I was not right the entire time.
