Here is where I was going:

I used to work on my cars and 'updated" them. Don't do it anymore. Takes too much time. I found that there is more in the world than just two-lane blacktop.

Agreed: A Ferrari does not have the "driving characteristics" as the BRZ, modified or not.

Also, manufacturers make cars for the mass market in mind, so those who want a more focused car need to modify it afterwards for their needs.
