Here is my take.
Camber/hella flush is fine in car shows. same category as flame thrower exhaust hot rods and ghetto fabulous Pontiac Bonneville with hydraulics. Absolutely no performance gains, and its to win trophies at shows or whoring for attention. I get that.

Now, if you start arguing that this is for "performance" gaining modification, or deny that it is 99% of the time reducing handling/performance/safety/legality/feedback/longevity/etc., that's where the argument usually starts.

I rarely hear "haha yea my performance has decreased significantly with this stance, but man doesn't it look good?". The function guys will most likely attack the performance part of this fad. The hella flush guys doesn't really have a good come back most of the time other than "we can do what ever the fuck we want, and you should respect that, #stancenationorGTFO". yolo swag. I believe Justin Biever has similar philosophies.

Most of the time, the function guys are a bit more articulate in the arguments, and the mega car geeks has the knowledge to back it up. The fad group unfortunately always have to fall back on "my life, my choice" sort of childish philosophy. Clearly we need to respect their opinion, but not ours.. interesting.

I do have to admit, I probably don't give the respect to certain modifications that I made up my mind on already. Anime vinyl cars/Mexi poke altezza Honda's/any cars with more than 10 stickers (true sponsored vehicles ok, they are forced to put decals) /anything too funky for the sake of being "different" than other people (light up wheels, leopard skin fuzzy vinyl wraps, hacked up home DIY body work abominations). I think at some point they are not car enthusiasts, but rather a self proclaimed "artist" to seriously add some funk to their cars.

and yes this van exists in Portland.

Also, the term "hate" has been seriously skewed when it was commonly used for someone "hating" because they wanted what the person has. Jealousy, envy, those things. So when #stancenation says, yumad uhate'n, I<3 h8ters, that implies to me that I am desiring your craigslisted used plasti-dipped XXR rims wrapped in 195/45 Nanking tires with megan coils on your sticker bombed 2003 WRX with 258K miles? You can't really "hate" on a homeless person, or a individual suffering from severe mental retardation. Its just not possible.

Not sure why I am in a ranty mood tonight, but I'm not bashing the stanced cars. They are not at fault, some cars a beautifully done, but its the attitude/drivers that come with this fad. Maybe you get more ***** by having a stanced car.. who knows, but in my day, we were told fast cars get more *****. /end rant, I think its my new pre-workout I've started drinking.
