I don't train. But I do exercise. I am a former elite soccer player and have tried all forms of exercise. Plus I have been involved in training athletes and being trained by certified strength and conditioning specialists. So, I try to mix it up each day I exercise from what I have applied and been involved in.
I guess bodybuilding is the same too. They do strength training, aerobic(cardio), HIIT , bla bla. I mean these are things many programs encompass, but I wouldn't say they are similar.

Periodization is common among just about any form of training.

I don't consider strength a fundamental component of insanity, or p90x at all. Sure by definition there is some "strength training" involved, but it is very limited in it's potential for actual strength development.

I also think the entire target audience, and purpose for p90x/insantiy is completely different than that of a true Crossfit box.

I mean it is kind of like saying taking a Boxing class at La Fitness is similar to training at a boxing gym to fight..
