I use these in my WRX that I race in SCCA RallyCross. They weigh 17lbs, 23lbs LESS than what a full group 35 battery weighs. The U1R has about 270-300CCA which is enough for a small 4 cyl engine. I've even started the car in the winter with one of these. And the best part is that at less than $40 (even better when on sale) I can go through 3 of these for the price of a new full size.
Run the light L&G battery in the summer and put the stock one on a tender for the winter. |
Why take it out for winter? Mine had no trouble starting the car every day for two years before I swapped it out for other reasons.
