Quick tips for Remote Start installation

First I'm not going to tell you how to install a remote start. Do your research for the wiring diagram and module programation. If you never done a full remote start install well leave it to the pro. You can dammage the BCM/ECM if you don't know what you are doing !

Usefull links: http://www.idatalink.com/
http://www.autostart.ca/
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1166113

I will provide you some quick tips for the FR-S/BRZ that will help you out with the install.

Recomanded Hardware

- Bypass Idatalink ADS-AL-CA
- Autostart Remote start
- Positive door lock inverter
- 2 Diodes
- 2 Relays

All the Autostart module are fully compatible with Idatalink bypass. Choose the "ADS" option.

Quick tips

- You can only do normal key FR-S/BRZ with Idatalink. (No push start) **EDIT: Look like Idatalink released a version for push start FR-S/BRZ !

- You don't need 2 Idatalink module. Every signal you need can be hardwire by the BCM/ECM and you will save 50-80$ on the installation. Idatalink will warn you that 2 module is needed but it work perfecly with 1 module. Just take care to select the immobiliser version flash.

- FRS/BRZ have two ignition and starter wire. They got to be powered when remote start. Don't use the same wire to power up 2 wires of the car. It can becaume dangerous if these wires shorts for whatever reasons. Use 2 separetes Igntion and Starter source. Autostart module have 2 starter outputs and you can use the "negative ignition output" with a relay to invert to positive for the other ignition.

- Manuals only: For the dome lamp input, don't connect on the dome output wire. When you remove the key sense, the dome lamp goes on and the remote start module will see an intrusion everytime you try to make your ready mode sequance. Plug at each door switch with diodes like this:

- OEM door locks with the remote don't work when the ignition sense detect a key. So in remote start, the OEM remote will not unlock/lock the doors.

- The door lock switch is POSITIVE. The shop manual indicate that they are negative but it's not true. You can buy a little positive door lock inverter for less than 10$.

- Clutch is positive. Use a relay to invert to positive the "Ground when running" from the remote start.

- The best RPM source is an ignition coil. ECM is located on the passenger side so it's really easy to take a coil signal here.

Don't forget to solders all the wire correcly, attach every wire/module and try that all the OEM functions still work correcly.

Hope that all these tips will help you out, like I've told you I'm not to guide you with the full instalation, It's only the tips that I've found out on my first install on a FR-S
