Please take this as mainly speculation but I think in order for something like that to happen, i.e. defective piston heads and rods in the occasional failure of an engine, you would need to be pushing over 300 whp with a non-sound tune and weak supporting mods. Otherwise, why would any of these vendors sell a stage 1 base kit? I assume these vendors understand that someone buying a stage 1 base kit is likely keeping majority of the car stock while looking to increase whp by 75-100 right?

If there was a unique situation where there was defective piston heads and rods, wouldn't the car show problems in its NA form before hitting FI, or will FI reveal weaknesses by itself where NA can't? (hopefully that made sense lol)
