Do not accept a 500 mile car with that kind of damage back. On top of diminished value, you are right in that the metal will be weaker. I don't care what any body shop says. They are never the same. I had an NSX that popped randomly and nobody could find it. The previous owner slid it sideways into a curb. They replaced $16,000 worth of suspension, but it never was right. 73% on a one or two year old car is one thing. This was a new car
