Give the OP some slack. Most people are not into cars like a lot of forum dwellers are. Most people I know just turn the key and drive, occasionally do an oil change and don't do anything else unless something breaks or a mechanic scares them into it. That is a big reason many people will get into newer cars or lightly used ones, they can still get away with just doing oil changes and minimal or no other maintenance.
