I broke this rivet on my stock airbox. The high lighted box is basically destroyed
I'm planning to just cover it up, but should I have any reason to believe the lack of that extra box there would drastically change readings?  |
I believe the box you are referring to is just a sound resonator to reduce intake noise.
The Toyota TRD intake air box is a similar design but does not have this resonator so it is unlikely to be a problem. However the loss of the mounting bracket may be a problem if the air box can move around. The clearance between the drive belt and the intake tube after the filter box is faily tight .
