From what I've seen you just remove the intake manifold & they are sunk down in the block, just need the right tools & patience. I believe it's that way with most Subaru boxers at least in the WRXs. That said there is a lot more room in this engine bay than any Impreza, so I think it will be that much easier to work on.
This thread got me so excited, can't wait to take mine apart!
