There was a time in this country when everyone was courteous and considerate. It was normal when coming up fast behind a slower car to flash your lights so they would know someone was coming up. They'd move over and you'd go by, giving a little thank you wave as you did so. The entitled "me first" attitude that pervades society these days is responsible for so many drivers that think it's somehow an insult to expect them to yield the lane to faster moving traffic. No one has any concern for the driver in the other car beyond getting by them and avoiding hitting them. How many times have you been at a red light and not made it through when it went green simply because the asshat at the front of the line took his/her own sweet time getting going, with no thought for all the people behind them that might like to get through the light? No consideration anymore.
To be honest though, sometimes it is hard to move over because the traffic is simply too heavy. I'm not going to stand on the gas and risk a ticket or an accident because the guy coming up behind wants to do 20 mph faster than everyone else is doing.
