I have noticed mine will automatically rev a little if I force it into situations where it might otherwise lug. its not major, but there's definitely some computer control to protect the engine. its most noticeable if you go over a speed bump at about 3mph, then intentionally release and press the clutch. it will rev to avoid stalling. Older cars do not have this behavior and will stall.
