Don't forget the new lightweight SkyActive MX-5 is due shortly and the sales in that niche should show a good bump. Toyota is simply being proactive here. Competition is good for any enthusiasts car, and the sports car market in particular need all the attention from the press/mags/manufacturers it can get.

What I hope is Mazda intro a new Coupe MX-5 as competition to the Toybaru models....
they've sold that many... since 1989... sure it beats out every other sportscar, but that doesnt mean toyota should throw their hat into the ring as well.

my idea is better. use the chassis to make a hybrid 2 seat convertible. give it the prius name. sell millions within a few years...
