I didn't try it without baking them but I think you can just out take the 6 screws out in the back of the light and pull them apart with some elbow grease. It looked like it was just caulk holding it in so I don't see how applying heat would loosen it up

We have opened up several sets and it really needs to be heated - some have been harder to get apart than others. So we would say heat them up
