Remember this is a niche vehicle in a niche part of a segment and as long as it reaches targeted sales the company will continue to produce this kind of vehicle. And if adding a trim like convertible will appeal to a larger demographic. I'm all for it.
Make a vehicle that will appeal to the targeted demographic and add in more trims/options to appeal to a larger market. Porsche IMO has one of better business models when it comes to their vehicle lineup.
