My guess is they wanted to coordinate it with the debut of the drift car, and they didn't schedule that event. I agree the timing is unfortunate though.
I have a note into the reply address to see if you can bring a +1 if you pick up the tab. Of course, I'm assuming we'll be single occupancy on the hotel so you could at least bring her along for that piece. Maybe we could have a "First 86 Widows/Widowers" meeting at the same time!
