Beaches like South Beach are great - yes, but very populated. If you wanna go to see downtown Miami and Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, Coral Gables, etc, go, but South beach isn't really for that quiet time imo, more like fun with friends, family, whatever.
Places like Hollywood Beach, Crandon Park, Haulover Beach are for relaxing.

I hate it when people tell me Florida is for old people. They somehow forget the Party capital - Miami

Yeah my cousin went down there recently and was telling me pretty much the same thing. If I have the time or if I even do get sent down to Miami for business, I'll be looking for a good spot to relax and thanks for the tip-off.
