I voted V12 but on second thought I think I prefer V10's almost entirely because of two engines: the 4.8L 1LR-GUE in the LFA and the 5.7L 980 in the Carrera GT. Both sound absolutely demonic at 8000+ rpm and make over 100hp/L. The Ferrari F50's 4.7L V12 makes a very good case for itself though.

But if we're talking accessible engines found in cars that don't cost an arm and two legs, I'm a big fan of the old school Honda VTEC units like the F20/22C and B series inline fours and C30/32A V6. Basically, any engine that is naturally aspirated, produces a high specific output, and revs to over 8000 is a winner in my book.
