You can wire any type of timer you like. I don't see why you couldn't use the ESC trigger as a momentary switch.

Nothing special. While not maintenance, you'll want to make sure that you keep your dump batteries in a state where they can quickly deliver the maximum current. Having the batteries warm and cycled often it best.

The screen can't be turned off or dimmed. You can place the arm switch anywhere you want; in view or out of view. If you like, you can keep it in the glove box.
