After realizing either it wasn't his, or that he was being a complete idiot trying to jack somebody's part he wasn't even sure was the thief's, he just left.

He didn't drive around making sure the coast was clear, he didn't look around for witnesses, and he didn't jump out grab the part and run. In reality it was quite a relaxed theft attempt. None of these things are standard operating procedure of a car thief.

Whether he is a thief or not, he needs to be held accountable for his actions, I just don't want to see everyone get worked up over an accusation that is simply that, an accusation.
Nope, he's guilty.
