You might start by checking your logs for the base map. Unless you are always staying at an IAM of 1.0 your not going to have much if any room for timing. Either way, you need to be watching for knock retard and knock correction when your tuning more so than IAM as often times the IAM wont drop until after a few knock events.

I think you really want to get a firm grasp of how the knock control systems works before you start trying to fine-tune the base map.
