I have to agree with MysteryMachine - it's not like the NA ecus are so fundamentally different from the FI roms that it takes any kind of 'special' understanding. And frankly, Bill (who drove the open source definitions for many years as Merchgod) probably knows these roms better than anyone out there.
Fact is that it is more difficult to extract power from NA motors. COBB took a commercial decision on the basis of bang for buck. Your development costs etc are the same for NA and FI, yet the power gains (and hence perceived value) for the end user are fundamentally different. Makes perfect sense to me.
