For myself:
First car was a 1998 Ford Escort ZX-2 2.0L Zetec with a 5 speed (lowered, sway bars, disc brake swap on the rear), owned it for 3 or so years and sold it for my next car when I graduated from high school and saved some cash.
Second car was a 1992 Nissan 180SX RHD SR20DET, owned it for 2.5 years, got it completely stock from Japan, spent a lot of money on it and had three blasted people smash into it when it was parked on three separate occasions. 252WHP and 280WTQ with minimal mods. Eventually after the third time it was hit I took some insurance money and sold it for my next car.
Third car was 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited Sedan 5 speed. Lowered it, did a ton of maintenance, Invidia Q300 exhaust, some Sparco wheels and tires. Owned it for a year, got bored, got a better job, and sold it for my next car.
Fourth car was a 2008 BMW 135i Coupe, manual, loaded minus nav, only had 14700km on it when I got it, put some VMR Wheels and tires and a GIAC flash tune on it. 336WHP and 322WTQ. Owned it for just under two years, decided mods and repair cost too much as I drive 40000km a year, sold it for my BRZ.
Currently have my 2014 BRZ Sport Tech since December, havent even had a chance to drive it due to the winter here in Canada, in the meantime I am driving a 1994 Subaru Impreza L Wagon, with a 2.2L swap, Forester rear end, WRX suspension, and over 360000KM on the body. Rusty but trusty, im not into it for more than $2000 at this point.
In between all those vehicles my parents owned some other various interesting cars, 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L Sport 2 door that was lifted, 2000 BMW 323ci, 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T wagon, 2006 BMW 325i, 2007 BMW Z4M Roadster with a S/C on it, 2010 BMW 135i with an accessport, 2012 Caterham R400, and 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. Every single vehicle our family has owned has been manual so far, not a single automatic!
