Normal driving on city and rural streets causes vibrations that make the fiberglass crack over time. The fiberglass will form spyder cracks that show through the paint. Molded in flares show cracks along the molded lines. Riveted flares weaken at the rivets, show cracks and get loose. Cut fenders rust under the flares even if done right if driven in snow or wet climates.
The list goes on. I have seen many beautifully done widebodys over the years that look great when done but within 2 to 3 years they looked like crap. These are cars where either the original owner or the 2nd owner were under the delusion that they could drive the car as a daily.
Widebody kits are best left to the show car circuit.
