For your purpose the dip seems better - if you had a larger surface to cover, I'd suggest an airbrush application. Rattle can paint in general sucks compared to professional style airbrush application; I can't imagine rattle can plasti-dip is any good.

That said, I'm biased - I know a guy who works for a paint distributor, so I have occasional access to their test lab, complete with $$$ spray guns and a booth...
