So all my friends know that I only trust a handful of people in my life and I am big on wanting to know fact vs. fiction. I could care less about a new anything related to the FR-S model line-up. But this seams like a very hot topic and the amount of BS flying around is ridiculous.
So... there are statements "flying around" on the topic of "something" new for the FR-S line up in 2014. We all know THAT, but what we do not know is WHAT it is! This is what I'm hearing:
1. It's called "Monogram" something or other. I guess it's because the iQ has a 2014 Monogram Series.
2. What are the improvements? I see nothing wrong with what Moto-P says in that regard since it is very consistent with the iQ Monogram.
3. It's a package or option. Once again, since the IQ Monogram is a package/option (QT-As verified on on several Scion dealers across the U.S.) and not a Release Series (they have their own model numbers"8"/"9"), I can see why people lean towards this possibility.(
Model Code examples)
4. It's a new Release Series. Well, since it would be a second year for the FR-S Release Series, it also makes sense. Kinda! Scion, like many other corporations with multiple products, models and options, takes nomenclature seriously. You have my permission to look up that word. It is VERY unlikely for them to establish Monogram as an "option" on one product and as a "Release Series" on another. So if it is a Release Series, it is VERY likely that it will not be called Monogram. Another thing to note is that the 10 Series FR-S is actually a Release series (it complies with their 8/9 nomenclature model). So it is VERY likely that they would continue their tradition like with their other vehicles since 2004. But this would mean that this so called "model 6255" is BS, since it does not conform to Scion model nomenclature. Can you tell I like that word? I was in the military for 7 yrs, so feel free to blame the U.S. Gov for indoctrinating me with that kind of vocabulary.
5. More power on the Monogram or whatever we want to call it at this point. Really? People really think they will add more power? Maybe for all the 2015 models or maybe they come up with a TRD version. But like the name implies, it would be TRD parts and the market has already established a good base for performance upgrades. Toyota learned from Mazda with their Miata/MX5. I expect Toyota to take it further with the FR-S and TRD but not with limited edition releases. Mazda tried that and as I recall, it did not work well for them.
So there you have it! My observations and analysis on this FR-S "THING". LOL
