Well, you put it that way, everything is legal until you get caught. It sucks, but there isn't really the manpower to start a hunt out for everything that everyone reports stolen.
Anyway, don't worry OP. Insurance will take care of you. And just think.. Somewhere the thief is searching the internet and will come across an article and say "Seriously?! Prius tires?! GODDAMMIT!"
