You hit the nail on the head. In fact the stock valve train is so soft that i heard that in some cases a detonation has caused the valve to open and throw a rocker arm. Which wipes out the head and cams. We have taken the time to inspect the motor and see how soft the stock springs are along with how tight the clearances really are.
Top that off with the stock cams don't make much power on the top end.
