YES! There are many places that use bulk 3M and another brand- which I remember is thinner thus more clear, but still protects effectively. I have seen front ends+hood+quarter panels wrapped before. Thanks for your insight. If you happen to think of the other brand let me know. I'm going to do a little research on this. But front/hood/qtr panels sounds like the way to go.
