Hey guys, the 4.88 from Weir absolutely works fine, that's what I installed in my car.
In terms of what will fit in our carrier, the ring/pinion kit needs to have an 8" (205mm) diameter ring gear. There are some crazy short Toyota ratios from trucks and SUVs, but they're not the right diameter and will not work.
As for the 4.55 gears, they're from the GA70 Supra, which was not available to USDM, which is probably why North American dealers can't find the part.
