I don't know how it will compare to the FRS other than they are sporty cars. Obviously the FRS is a 2+2, so there's a little more practicality, but I think they'll be pretty much the same; with the FRS being a bit quicker. The MX-5 is really plasticy on the inside, so I think the newer FRS will be a bit more nicer and comfortable.
And about the debate about why only 200hp out of the FRS engine, and I'll bet that the engine was made to be tuned. But that's just speculation on my part.

id love to agree with you on that last part but 200 hp coming out of a 2 liter doesnt seem too tuner friendly
