Lonewolf I think you're being delusional if you think more than 10% of people have any shred of "passion" for their cars. My mom refuses to (take her car into the shop to) change oil despite the check engine light being lit for over a thousand miles, check tire pressure/fill up tires despite the tire pressure sensor light lit, wash her car until it's completely covered in dirt, take it in for maintenance despite the noise coming from the wheels, get her broken rear windshield wiper blade fixed, or have her slightly damaged door replaced despite the fact that the weather sealing is getting caught.
I'm pretty sure most people care similarly little about their cars. I have never, ever, heard anyone say that Toyota makes "boring" cars. They all say, oh Toyota Camry, great car, it's reliable and practical and good value. The only people who are even willing to keep up good maintenance that I've seen are people who have nice cars that they spent good money on, or sports cars. Cars serve 2 purposes for most people: 1. transportation 2. status symbol.
