No need without competition since Ranger and S-10 left the segment. That's about to change with both nameplates returning soon. In response, an all-new long overdue Tacoma is in the pipe. Rumor is that it's downsizing to comply with new EPA fuel economy mandates for light trucks.
Meanwhile, there's stiff competition in the sub-$30K sporty car segment where FR-S has to stay fresh or die.
