Not sure what to tell you, na 4 cyl aren't exactly something meant for low rpms.
If mpg is your rpm concern the car even with a manual can easily pull over 30 in highway driving despite the epa rating.
I average around 33, have seen a best of 36 and thats after ditching the low rolling resistance tires. Others here have claimed even higher.

Thanks I'm sure I'll hit decent mpg; and for my purposes will have plenty of power. I'm not going to be racing the car.
