you forget about all the DRM that would have to be implemented to keep us from sharing files, looking at the work we paid someone else for, tuning our neighbor's car, etc. you know, all the stuff you would normally do with something you own

the announcement has to be end-user tuning or it's pointless really. why announce anything else to a bunch of people that aren't even allowed to look at what you're announcing? why would anyone care that the tuner they can't get ahold of has a nice new software feature to make his job easier when he decides to respond to you?
if it is end user tuning i'll pay for it, presuming information becomes available that would suggest i should given all of the other options out there (great defs, basically). i'm damn sure not paying $300 for their cable when i have a perfectly good openport sitting here, i know that much.
