Yeah, think of it more as heal and SMALL toe(s). In reality it's the top right side of your foot that you want on the throttle. Your foot should be tilted about 30 degrees to the right from vertical. Once you get the right coverage, the "feel" that you'll have to learn is how to blip the throttle without adding pressure to the brake pedal.

The other technique that I use quite a bit is clutchless shifting. Once you get the feel for it, it's as easy to down shift as up shift. As I think about it...I probably use this technique more then heal-n-toe.
