I don't recall anyone ever saying that a video game simulation was better than actually being on a track. So I'm not sure what point you are trying to prove here? You said:

So what's the point of this? Why would I want to play a game when I can drive my car in real life.

And the point of this is entertainment. It's a video game. The fact that you can upload your track data and race against your ghost means that, for the times when you cannot be at the track, you can still work on improving your driving technique. Or, you know, for entertainment?
It takes 2 seconds to turn on a PS3. Running a couple of laps on a video game is something that can be done in someones spare time while in the comfort of their own home. An actual track day is a time consuming process, not to mention the financial costs associated every time you go. This is an apples to oranges comparison.
So you decided to come in here and ask what the point of this is. I replied with "must be nice to be able to take your car to the track 7 days a week" and your response is that a video game cannot compare to being at a real track? lol... No one was disputing whether racing in real life on an actual race track was or was not a more enjoyable experience... and I'm done feeding a troll.
