If you go fast enough you can wreck on a straight road.
Look at this wreck that happened a few days ago on the road I drive home from work. The black SUV was traveling the opposite side of the road (a straight portion, dry conditions), hit the guardrail, went airborne and decapitated the occupants of the black sedan when it landed on them. Things can spiral out of control rapidly. I doubt that guy thought he was going to kill 2 people that day.
