Oh, I saw four exhaust pipes and assumed 4-cylinder. So the #2/#3 and #4/#5 exhausts are siamesed a la flathead V8, I guess... So intake seems rational, anyway, 1 carb per cylinder pair.
Hard to believe that's essentially the original Corvette engine!
